I’ve tried a few touch up jobs. Anything over the size of a dime is usually pretty grizzly; total amateur hour. I figured a seasoned pro would be able to work some magic that I was incapable of. Nope! Even Larry can’t. After working for hours, he finally gives in and slaps a sticker on, which looks fantastic believe it or not! Especially given how much time and effort you need put into that vs. a proper touch up job.
The TL/DR on the video is that the best approach is to use bondo/rust prevention products if you must, level the area, and then slap a sticker on it.

No offense to you, but I’m really starting to hate the use of the word “legit” like this. Because it already has another, current meaning that overlaps — it means they are a real thing. So your title just says “stickers are a real thing” (when I know you really meant the stickers are cool/sweet/dope/toight/etc).
I actually started running into this problem in the workplace a couple year ago, asking things like “Is this data source legit?” (ie, valid) My younger coworker(s) would literally hear a different question altogether, usually answering incorrectly and with a little confusion.
Rant off.
Damn you, MC Hammer!

I’ve given up on my cars’ paint, they will be getting full vinyl stickers.

Even better, I once knew someone who used the word “Dumb” to describe something being cool/sweet/dope/etc. Like he would say “those rims are so dumb on that ride!” meaning that he really liked it. He was exactly the type of white trash person who you could imagine talking like this.
It always fascinates me the crazy definitions people come up with for words. And what surprises me even more is how so many people can still understand each other even if the words dont make any sense if you think about it. Like most people know the actual definition of a word but still use it incorrectly just because of how it sounds.

If the word is totally opposite (like “bad” in the 80s which still exists, usually as “badass”) then there’s rarely a problem. I’ve also occasionally heard “stupid” like what you’re describing. But when two meanings are really similar to start with, it gets confusing.

A few years ago I put an awkward relatively minor scratch/gouge on the rear passenger side door of the fintail (long story). I simply got one of those goofy band-aid stickers, nearly body color, and slapped it over the damage - as PDR can’t fix something like that. . It’s just more “patina”, I tell myself.

Regarding your second paragraph: That’s basically what slang is. It’s the same thing with dope, which means cool to many people (like me) but not the real definition at all. I find it fascinating the way slang can travel from place to place. Now your old acquaintance he was definitely a dope.

he sure made a mountain out of a mole hill here. He should have used something more rigid to fill the damage. The idea though is pretty good, and some applications could be really decent permanent repairs.

It seems like the sticker would disappear at say 20 ft instead of maybe double that for a bad touch up job too.

Yeah something tells me he rarely takes on paint damage like that.

Now that you mention it I’m SO glad to be done with that. Big state school + tiny roads + many crosswalks = chaos

That’s a funny way to conceptualize a wrap. It really is just a big sticker.

I had no idea this existed, but it may be one of the better inventions in recent history.

The scrape is relatively minor, and it may blend in too - not as much paint job as a gouge. This distracts from it (not as close to body color as I seemed to recall, but this isn’t the usual car color):

Well I do graphics, wrap buildings or whatever the show needs, I don’t think it will ever really match, but it could be good enough if you don’t care too much.
